Art Buzz, the book, was founded in 2006 as an alternative to mainstream art publications and a way for lesser known and undiscovered visual artists to showcase their work to an international audience. Most of the current visual art created is by struggling and unknown artists living in various parts of the world yet most of the art magazines only feature the work of artists that have achieved a certain amount of notoriety. Those mainstream publications have no incentive to seek out lesser known artists because they cater to major galleries and museums which, as a rule, only show work by established artists. Therein exists a void and it is the intent of Art Buzz to fill that void with this – the premier Visual Arts Showcase, annual hardcover publication.

Art Buzz annually calls out to quality visual artists throughout the world. They are encouraged to enter the competition and, those artists that are awarded with inclusion in the book, are chosen solely on the impact of their work—not their resume, background, biography, etc. Artists of all the various visual art media are welcome to answer the call to enter. In this way, Art Buzz will provide the premier showcase for an eclectic collection of top quality, contemporary visual art from around the world.

Art Buzz, The Collection series, is an annual, full-color, fine quality, large format (9" x 9") "coffee table" type publication that is scheduled for release in the winter of each year with a vigorous distribution and marketing plan. The book will be available to order directly from the publisher and additional copies will be distributed directly by Art Buzz to various galleries, art dealers and art collectors in the United States and other parts of the world.

Art Buzz, the book (as well as ArtBuzz.org, the website), is dedicated to the appreciation and advancement of contemporary visual art and its creators. The pages of Art Buzz are open to all quality, emerging visual artists including new artists that have yet to venture out for public scrutiny. Art Buzz, founded by artist Tony Blue, knows how important EXPOSURE is. All quality visual artists are encouraged to enter the competition to be included and exposed in the next volume of Art Buzz, the book. From these entries, the artists' work is selected for inclusion (or not) based on its merits and impact, not on the artists' past achievements. The Art Buzz selection process is fair, unbiased and based on a level playing field. We are committed to showcasing high quality, exciting visual artwork of various media and the selected winning artists will surely be proud to appear in this outstanding, high quality, annual publication.

Selected artists work will be displayed in the book in a few different ways depending on the artist's award and, of course, there is no cost or commissions to pay (other than the entry fee). All winning artists will have their personal contact email and website (if they have one) listed. There will be full-page, half-page and multi-page exposure (depending on the award space allotment), complete with an artist's statement (supplied by the artist), for each award winning artist. All artwork images in the book will be reproduced as closely as possible to the winning entry that was received for the competition. Therefore, we highly recommend and insist that you send your best quality image files. (See Artwork Image Submission Requirements below) Plus, winning artists will have the option of purchasing a copy of the finished book at a reduced rate.

Art Buzz Awards ...
• Grand Prize - Best of the Collection - multi-page and front cover exposure
• First Place - (one for each medium) - min. double-page exposure
• Second Place - (one for each medium) - min. full-page exposure
• Third Place - (one for each medium) - min. half-page exposure
• Honorable Mention - (several for each medium) - min. quarter-page exposure

Eligibility ...
Open to all visual artists - worldwide - 18 years of age or older. All the various media will be accepted such as: painting, drawing, graphics (includes digital), photography, photo-illustration, mixed media, fiber, print making, sculpture, glass, metal, pottery, jewelry, etc. However, only one medium per entry form.

Artwork Image Submission Requirements ...
Artwork images may be submitted by 35mm slides (or 21/4" or 4" x 5" transparencies), digital files (preferred) or photographs up to 8" x 10". All artwork images should be clearly and neatly labeled with the artist's name, title of work, medium and dimensions. The same information should also be listed clearly on the entry form.

• Slides (and transparencies) ...
Artist slides should be 35mm (or transparencies 21/4" or 4" x 5"). All slides should be labeled with artist's name, title of work, medium, dimensions and an arrow pointing to the slide top. Larger transparencies should be submitted in glassine envelopes for protection and labeled (same information as slides). Please print labels clearly. All slides should be properly exposed and free from scratches and excessive dust.

• Digital Files (the preferred artwork submission) ...
Digital artwork image files will be accepted on CD or DVD and should be readable by the Macintosh platform and named in conjunction with the actual artwork title. All images should be high resolution – 300dpi – jpeg or tiff file format. All jpegs should be saved at the highest quality. All artwork image files should represent your work accurately and honestly. The disc should be clearly labeled with the artist's name and number of images contained on the disc. Digital discs must be accompanied by a printed paper copy of the contents of the disc and labeled with the artist's name, title of work, medium and dimensions for each artwork. This printed paper copy is required by the jury.

A word about emailing artwork images ...
The digital files necessary for quality book printing are high resolution (300 dpi) and huge – unfortunately, they are too large to email. CDs or DVDs are required.

• Photographs ...
High quality and properly exposed photographs up to 8" x 10" may be submitted. Each one should be clearly labeled on the back with the artist's name, title of work, medium and dimensions of the actual artwork. Do not fold or crease photos.

Return of Submissions ...
A Self-Addressed-Stamped-Envelope (SASE), with sufficient postage and legibly addressed, MUST be included with your entry if you want your material returned. Artists from outside the USA must include International Reply Coupons, instead of stamps, if you want your material returned. If an artist fails to include a SASE or International Reply Coupons, we, at Art Buzz, will assume they do not want their submission material returned and therefore, it will not be returned.

Artist Notification ...
Artists, that include a SASE or International Reply Coupons, will be notified, via mail, of acceptance or non-acceptance into Art Buzz, the book. Artists that do not include a SASE or International Reply Coupons, with their entry, will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance via email. If no SASE, International Reply Coupons or email address is provided, only the winning artists will be notified.

Entry Fee (reduced for early entries) ...
The entry fee for up to three (3) slides (or transparencies), digital images or photographs is $27.00 (US Dollars) if received before June 1, 2008. The entry fee for three (3) slides (or transparencies), digital images or photographs, received after June 1, 2008 is $35.00. Artists that wish to enter more than three (3) art pieces may do so but they must pay an additional $5.00 fee for each slide (or transparency), digital image or photograph over three (3). Bank checks and money orders must be in US Dollars and payable to Art Buzz. Artists can also pay by credit card through PayPal which is very safe and secure. (maximum 3 artwork images when paying via PayPal) Just press the button below and print out your PayPal transaction receipt to include with your entry form and slides (or transparencies), digital images or photographs and mail to Art Buzz.
Note: Entry fees are not refundable.

Deadline ...
All entries must be postmarked by September 30, 2008. (Remember, entries received before June 1, 2008 are rewarded with the above mentioned early-entry-discount.)
