Deadline: Jan. 26, 2018 – Call for Artists – OPA 27th National Juried Exhibition

Oil Painters of America will hold its 27th National Juried Exhibition of Representational Oil Paintings, June 1 through September 3, 2018 at Steamboat Art Museum in Steamboat Springs, CO.

Approximately 25 awards will be given with a total value estimated in excess of $100,000, including a $25,000 Best of Show. Convention events will include a wet paint competition with total awards valued at $10,000 in both studio and plein air divisions, multiple demonstrations, interviews, discussions and exhibitors. Juror of Awards will be renown Master Signature Artist Craig Tennant OPAM.

Deadline for online submissions is midnight on Friday, January 26, 2016. To enter, artists must be a citizen of the U.S., Canada or Mexico but can live abroad and also be a paid 2018 member of OPA at an annual fee of $70. OPA is currently accepting new member applications.

Fusion Art is very pleased to announce the opening of the 3rd Artist Spotlight solo art competition. Artist Spotlight highlights individual artists who have an overall body of work to showcase.

From this competition Fusion Art will select up to 9 winning artists – three traditional artists, three digital & photography artists and three 3-dimensional artists (if the gallery has received 3-dimensional entries) for individual month-long solo art exhibitions on the Fusion Art website starting in February 2018.

The gallery will promote the winning artists, worldwide, through its marketing and publicity channels and the winners will be invited to the 3rd annual group show in Palm Springs in 2018.

The Artist Spotlight competition is an open competition. There is no theme and any subject matter and any media are acceptable. Both 2D and 3D artists from around the world are encouraged to submit their best work for consideration.

The Curatorial Proposal Series (CPS) offers artists of all disciplines and experience levels, the opportunity to organize and present a polished, self-curated exhibition with the guidance and support of Gallery 263 staff and facilities. The CPS is Gallery 263’s main exhibition program, amounting to four shows annually, and is the only way to be considered for a proposed group or solo exhibition.

We accept electronic submissions on a rolling basis. The next jury session will begin May 21, 2017. Only proposals submitted by that date will be considered for exhibition between June and December, 2017.

Gallery 263 seeks Curatorial Proposal exhibitions which:

  • present a strong curatorial thesis, and for group proposals, a tangible connection between the included artists’ work
  • promise high quality, contemporary, fresh and original artwork
  • are a good fit for Gallery 263’s space, and which negotiate well with our diverse event programming benefit the local community

Qualifications, Restrictions & Suggestions

  • For solo exhibitions, only New England [MA, NH, CT, RI, VT, ME] artists are eligible. For group proposals, at least 50% of participating artists must reside in New England.
  • At least 50% of work submitted for review must be from the last two years.
  • Group and solo exhibitions of all media are welcome to apply. Group proposals (of two artists or more) are encouraged.
  • Proposals must be submitted by a representative curator.  This can be the artist proposing a solo exhibition for him/herself, a representative proposing an exhibition as part of a group OR an independent curator(s) proposing an exhibition on behalf of an artist or group. The representative curator must be a New England resident.
  • Entries may either be existing or proposed work. Existing work is required for the first exhibition. All proposed installations must require less than 25% of floor surface area.  Any A/V equipment required for the exhibit will need to be provided by the artist(s). Exhibitions must be installed in under 3 days.
  • Proposals should be made in consideration of Gallery 263’s space. Visiting us before applying is strongly encouraged.

How to Apply

Applicants create two PDF documents for consideration, and apply via our online application form. Please read all of the available information, and prepare your documents as requested. All application materials, including the form, two documents, and $40 application fee, must be received by May 21 to be considered for exhibition between June and December, 2017. We are now accepting submissions for Smörgåsbord, our one non juried exhibition held in our gallery every year. Based on the Swedish word for an array of various food dishes served at a meal, with this particular exhibition we hope to follow this form of presentation with a wonderful variety of artwork by artists creating in all kinds of mediums. For our upcoming exhibition, “A Cut Above” we will be presenting collage work created by artists from all over the country in this interesting and visionary exhibition. For this exhibition we are seeking collage artwork from all artists, created with the use of many different styles and techniques. This exhibition is open themed and all imagery will be accepted. We want to see your best collage work, those special eye catching and thought provoking pieces that are “a cut above” the rest. Artists can submit up to six pieces to be included in the show. Please note that this exhibition is not juried, and all artwork submitted will be included in the show as long as it follows the rules and guidelines listed below. This group exhibition will be on display in our gallery throughout the month of September.

* All artwork, whether dropped off or shipped, must arrive to the gallery by the dates listed above. Any artwork that arrives after these dates will not be included in the exhibition.

Deadline: Oct. 11, 2015 – Autumn – Call for Entries

Crisp air, colorful leaves and the beginning of the end to a new year, are just some reasons to love the autumn season! In this call we want to see your interpretation of art that typifies this beautiful season!

Calls are open to all local, domestic, national and international professional and amateur artists. All art mediums will be considered in this call for submissions, from photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. Sizes up to 12 feet are acceptable. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered for the live exhibition. Freestanding 3D artworks will be displayed online only. We are now accepting video and poetry entries for online shows.

Accepted entries for this online exhibition will be judged again in the coming months for a collective live exhibition at our Los Angeles gallery. The artists will be asked if they wish to submit their artwork for the collective exhibition, which is not a requirement to being a part of the online exhibition.

Deadline: Sept. 30, 2015 – Montage – Call for Entries

Sometimes the process of making art is more intuitive or experimental, as opposed to a strict adherence to traditional artistic practice/technique. In this call we want to see mixed media, collage work or any art that combines various mediums and/or produced unconventionally!
