May Art at Agora Gallery – NYC

The walls are really bursting with life with a total of four exhibitions at Agora Gallery. Max Werner’s solo exhibition demonstrates the appeal of spontaneity and allowing impulse to guide talent and experience, as well as the value of observation in creating art. In Out From Down Under & Beyond: Fine Art From Australia and New Zealand artists show works which have been influenced by the wonderful scenery and culture of their homelands, with breathtaking results. Contemporary Perspectives highlights the exciting and innovative nature of art today, with each artist bringing their unique point of view and feel for the zeitgeist to their work. The art of Portal of Enigma takes up the challenge posed to every artist by the enormous diversity and complexity of life and meets it head on, facing both mystery and confusion squarely and bringing from it enlightenment and energy.

This coming July 4th Friends of Rockaway will host Colors of the Rockaways, an art event ultimately culminating in the creation a 222 x 22′ chalk and pastel mural here in Far Rockaway. The 4884 square foot mural will be the 3rd largest collaborative mural ever created. The mural centerpiece will be a 40 x 20 stencil to be colored in by 300 local Rockaway children. The remaining area will be sectioned off and filled in by NYC artist- famous and infamous.
Art has proven to be universal, colors appreciated by all with sight. A proven de-stressor, mood enhancer and spirit up lifter the mural will benefit the community and promote connection and togetherness.

The center piece will be a 30 x 20 ft. stencil drawn by Friend of Rockaways own ***Joe Lopez, a NYC paper cutting artist known for his intricate designs. During the art event 3 free yoga classes will be given for those waiting to draw or community members looking to stretch and unwind before the 4th of July festivities.

This is a call to chalk and pastel artists who would like to get involved with creating the WORLD’S 3rd largest chalk/pastel mural. The event will be internationally covered and publicized, a great way for new artist to gain credibility and attention and known artist to remain relevant.

The Persistence of Color: Vanida Amiot / a Solo Exhibition and Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Fine Art Exhibition

The September exhibitions at Agora Gallery are sure to get the season off to a good start, with a dazzling collective exhibition and a solo exhibition that will captivate and delight. In Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Fine Art Exhibition, talented Latin American artists explore the diverse and thrilling boundaries of their experiences, their heritage and their minds. The result is a collection that captures something fundamental about the nature of contemporary life, while also imparting a vision of possibility and insights that have an impact both intellectually and emotionally. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of work in this collection will be donated to From Here to Haiti, an organization which brings help and hope to the people of Haiti.

Vanida Amiot‘s solo exhibition displays all the verve and vivacity that abstract art can possess, as the audience is swept along and immersed in images that subtly balance delicacy with vivid effects. Intriguing and imaginative, these works speak to the deepest levels of our minds, encouraging us to think and think again about what we see, what we assume and what we think. The exhibitions will begin on September 10, 2013 and run until October 1, 2013, with an opening reception on the evening of Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 6-8PM. Entrance is free and anyone seeking some inspiration to start the fall season is encouraged to attend.
