MTSU Todd Art Gallery

A juried competition and exhibition that will feature 3-D work designed to fit within the confines of a typical shoebox, with each applicant free to use a shoebox of choice, from baby-size shoes to boots, as the dimensions of their work.

The juror is Michael Aurbach, a professor of art in sculpture and drawing at Vanderbilt University. His achievements include a term as president of the College Art Association (CAA) and service as coordinator of its Career Development Workshop, an annual mentoring program. A past recipient of the Southeastern College Art Conference Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement, Aurbach has also received numerous grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Southern Arts Federation, and the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Deadline: May 31 – UncommonGoods iPhone Design Challenge

UncommonGoods, an online retailer that specializes in handmade, eco- friendly and uniquely designed gifts and accessories, has just launched their iPhone Design Challenge, a call for entries of 2D digital captures including watercolors, acrylics, pastels, colored pencils, collages, photography, digital art etc.. The winner will receive $500, a vendor contract, and national exposure by being presented their catalog circulation of 1.75 Million. Guest judges will provide all runners up with a consultation and critique of their work, as well as tips for marketing and growing your business. Additionally, the UncommonGoods buying team will be happy to review full portfolios in consideration for future work.

After the call for entries, the semifinalist designs chosen by the UncommonGoods buyers will appear on where the online community will vote on their favorite pieces to move on to the final round of judging. The top five voted designs will be judged by UncommonGoods Assistant Jewelry & Accessories Buyer Jackie Udden, Illustrative Artist Adrienne Vita, and Joy Deangdeelert Cho, Graphic Designer and the blogger behind Oh Joy! A winner will be chosen in late-June.

12×12: A National Exhibition of Small Scale Works of Art

The Todd Art Gallery of Middle Tennessee State University invites artists from across the United States to submit their artwork (2D and/or 3D) for consideration in our 4th 12×12: A NATIONAL EXHIBITION OF SMALL SCALE WORKS OF ART. Cash awards for University Provost’s Award (Best of Show); College of Liberal Arts Award (1st); Department of Art Award (2nd); Award of Excellence (3rd); and up to five Awards of Merit (Honorable Mention) to be announced January 22, 2013 at a reception for donors to MTSUArts’ Patron Society and a subsequent public Artists Reception that will follow.
Each artist is invited to submit up to 3 pieces.

Free Entry To Artists: Design Contest For Band’s Upcoming Tour T-Shirts

Female fronted hard rock/ melodic metal band Oblivious Signal is taking submissions from all artists worldwide for their new T-Shirt design.

The Ft Lauderdale based band’s singer was recently named “Florida’s Queen of Rock” with over 25,000 votes. They are now looking for a new T-Shirt design to print prior to an upcoming tour to promote their upcoming sophomore album.

This contest will be open to the public and run until the May 31st deadline when the top three entries, as chosen by the band, will be presented to the fans for popular vote. Both Oblivious Signal’s fans and the fans of the artists will be able to vote for their favorite design until the June 8th deadline, when the submission with the most likes will be named the winner.

The design with the top number of likes before the stroke of midnight June 8th will be announced and will go on the new shirt to be printed prior to the next tour and be on sale at upcoming shows and festivals.
