Calls for entries to exhibit your prize-winning photography in Canada

Announcing the fifth annual call for submissions to all photographers the world over. This is an opportunity to exhibit your work for one month at ViewPoint Gallery, the only photography gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. This competition is one of the ways ViewPoint Gallery serves to promote the art of photography. It gives a voice to deserving photographers the world over, and introduces your art to a Canadian audience through our gallery exhibit and website.

The competition is open to all subject matter. Twelve winning images will be selected from the digital entries. A panel of professional photographers selected by ViewPoint Gallery will jury submissions. One winner will be exhibited monthly. These images will be professionally printed, framed, exhibited and offered for sale by ViewPoint Gallery starting in June, 2016 at no extra cost to the winners. In addition, winners will have their work publicized by the gallery with media/press releases submitted to all major Halifax publicity streams.

Additionally the top three entries will receive the following prizes offered by Blurb Photo Books:

First prize: $150 Printing Credit from Blurb Photo Books.

Second prize: $100 credit from Blurb Photo Books.

Third prize: $75 credit from Blurb Photo Books.

Every single entry will receive a 25% product discount from Blurb Photo Books.

°Open to artists, 18 years of age or older from around the world who
submit artwork in the following media: Painting, Drawing, Digital art,
Photography, Mixed Media & Sculpture (stone, wood, metal, glass, mixed
media, etc).

°Artists can submit works in one several categories (1
submission per category).

°Artists should use their own judgment in
interpreting ‘Unrestrained Inspiration’ theme with an emphasis on being

°All work must be original, created by the artist (preferably
made in last two years), signed by the artist and available for sale.
Reproductions of original artwork, such as giclee prints of original paintings,
will not be accepted.

°Entries must not have been previously published
and must not be submitted elsewhere

°Digital art must be original
artwork that is created exclusively on a computer, and must be signed. Original,
limited edition prints of digital art will be permitted, and must be signed and
numbered as part of an edition.

°Photographs must be signed and numbered
and must be the artist’s original image. Artists are encouraged to identify
clearly whether a photographic print is produced digitally or through a
traditional photographic process (silver print, Polaroid, dye-transfer,

include the gallery’s 30 per cent commission in the sale price.

°Size limit for all media other than sculpture: 59″ or 150cm in any direction

What can nature tell us? For centuries – if not millennia- Human Beings have found ways to relate to nature, to derive meaning from our interaction between the elements, flora, and fauna- be it simply capturing a beautiful scene with the local animals or creating a meaningful and fable-like composition.  For this exhibition, we want your unique take on the classic theme of nature.

All international artists, professional and amateur and all art mediums will be considered in this call for entries from photography to wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered. Video submissions will be displayed online only.

Accepted entries for this online exhibition will be judged again for a collective live exhibition at our Pasadena Gallery. The artists will be asked if they wish to submit their artwork for the live collective exhibition, which is not a requirement to being a part of the online exhibition.
