Fusion Art is celebrating Women Artists and is pleased to announce the opening of its fifth quarterly online art competition. The gallery invites both 2D and 3D submissions from women artists, only, regardless of their location or their experience or education in the art field.

For this open (no theme) competition, women artists, over the age of 18, are encouraged to submit their best 2D and 3D representational and non-representational art and photography. The work can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and any subject matter and medium are acceptable.

The selected winners of the competition will receive a three-month long online group exhibition beginning January 15, 2018.  Artists will receive extensive worldwide marketing and promotion to make the art world aware of them and their work.

Fusion Art is now accepting submissions for the Seasons international online art competition.

For this competition, artists, worldwide, are encouraged to submit their best artistic interpretation of the four distinct times of yearSpring, Summer, Fall & Winter – along with any scenes, weather, events, or activities associated with those four seasons.  The artwork can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and all artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, are encouraged to submit their best representational and non-representational art and photography.

Dia de los Muertos, the Mexican holiday celebrating the life of family and friends who have passed. Now celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world, creating a ritual of the living communicating with the dead, bringing rich color and history of the Mexican culture to this important event. We are seeking artwork in this theme that is traditional, contemporary, and experimental in nature that include imagery that is colorful and vibrant, of skulls, skeletons, alters, death, life, and other things related to the Dia de Los Muertos festivities. Artwork can be inspired by the holiday or be your own interpretation of the cycles of life and death. We look forward to seeing your creative submissions.

UP AGAINST THE WALL invites you to forget the pedestal! Let’s put our clay on the map, on the vertical axis, just perfect for a Brooklyn where horizontal space is at such a premium. In New York City, we have to Build UP! Big or small, fat or flat, however it’s hanging. Confrontational clay at it’s most insistent.

JUROR:
Matt Nolen is a studio artist living and working in New York City. Trained as a painter and architect, his work includes sculptural objects and architectural installations using clay and mixed media.  Mr. Nolen is currently serving as President of the Board of Trustees for Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle Maine and is Adjunct Professor of Art at New York University and Pratt Institute.

The artwork cannot be functional — production work and commercially manufactured pieces are not acceptable. Mixed media is acceptable as long as clay is the dominant component of the piece (at least 75%).

For this competition artists and photographers are encouraged to share their artistic vision and interpretation of light and shadow.  The artwork should focus on the dramatic placement and effects of light and shadow over the canvas or through the lens. Whether color or black and white, the light and shadow in the artwork should emphasize the subject matter by giving definition and dimension thus enhancing the vivid placement of lights and darks.

The Resident Artists Gallery at The Franklin Arts Center in Brainerd MN is now accepting submissions for “Make Art Great Again: On Borders, Walls, and Duality”, a new collective exhibition. Our gallery committee has been busy absorbing the divisive language flooding the present political atmosphere, and tracing its threads back into history. Refugee crises and border walls emit historical echoes of apartheid and the Cold War, the cultural and physical divisions of Israel, South Africa, and the Koreas. Searchers in the West have spent the last few decades tearing down the wall between politics and spirituality by turning to the wisdom of Eastern philosophy to help explain the ancient polarities of have/have not, good/evil, and us/them, looking for a road map out of a seemingly eternal struggle that feels both futile and inevitable. We look forward to seeing your submissions exploring these subjects, and yes, we will entertain your Trump portraits.

The Arts Council of York County presents the 27th Annual Juried Competition at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC June 16 – September 11, 2016.

The deadline for entries is Friday, May 13, at 5 PM.
This is NOT a postmark deadline for mailed entries.

Winners will be announced at a free, public reception to be held at the Center for the Arts on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 6 PM.

The Juried Competition is open internationally to artists 18 and older. Only original work, created in the last two (2) years, and not previously shown at the Center for the Arts, Dalton Gallery will be accepted. All forms of media are eligible, including video. Limit four pieces per artist.

Judging this year’s competition is Seth Gadsden. Gadsden is an artist, educator, and filmmaker living in Columbia, South Carolina where he is the managing director of the Nickelodeon Theatre and director of the Indie Grits Film Festival. Gadsden was a founding member of the Redux Contemporary Art Center in 2003 in Charleston, SC. In 2006, while pursuing his M.F.A. from Boston University, he founded the Boston Young Contemporaries before helping to form the traveling artist collective Transit Antenna, then spending the following two years developing community based art projects across North America. With a focus on public art, experimental filmmaking, and multimedia installation, Seth has exhibited across the United States and has completed murals and outdoor sculptures in places like Mexico, North Dakota, Boston, Houston and his hometown of Clover, South Carolina.

Candy, cookies, cupcakes, oh my! Our newest exhibition is all about sweet treats and the many desserts that we all enjoy. We are seeking artwork in all mediums that features desserts in some way within the piece. We hope to see artwork that is fun, creative, colorful, out of the box, and maybe a little crazy. Bring on the sweet treats and satisfy the sweet tooth!

The Franklin Arts Center Resident Artists Gallery, presents, Transitions, our 2nd Annual Fall Juried Exhibition. This year, we are excited to announce that local artist Andrew Turner will be our guest juror for this exhibition. We invite artists from all over, working in all mediums, to submit artwork to be juried into this exhibition. There is no particular theme for this show. Artwork can relate to the title “Transitions”, but it is not required. This group exhibition will be on display in our gallery throughout the month of October.

* All artwork, whether dropped off or shipped, must arrive to the gallery by the dates listed above. Any artwork that arrives after these dates will not be included in the exhibition.

Exhibition Rules

Established and emerging artists, working in any media are encouraged to submit artwork, including but not limited to: painting, drawing, printmaking, design, photography, ceramics, sculpture, fiber, and video as long as the piece follows the guidelines below.

– Both 2D and 3D artwork will be accepted.

– All 2D artwork must be able to hang on the wall, and be no larger then 6′ x 6′ in size.

– All 3D artwork must be able to either sit on a pedestal of 12″ x 12″, or be able to be free standing within our gallery space.

– All artwork must arrive to the gallery ready to hang or display, with proper wiring and hanging systems, or displaying instructions.

– A limit of 4 pieces will be accepted per artist, with an overall submission fee of $15. Payment can be made through Paypal at the end of the submission form. Fees are nonrefundable.

– All artwork should be clearly labeled with the following: artist’s name, artwork title, medium, dimensions, date of completion, and sale price.

– All artwork will remain in the gallery for the entire time period of the exhibition.

– All artists are responsible for both initial and return shipping of any artwork that is sent to the gallery. Please include any return shipping labels with your artwork.

– The Franklin Arts Center Resident Artists Gallery retains 25% commission of any sales made during the exhibition.

– All artwork, whether dropped off or shipped, must arrive to the gallery by Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Any artwork that arrives after this date will not be included in the exhibition.

– Any artwork that is not picked up after 30 days of the designated pick up date, will be considered abandoned and will then become property of the gallery, and may be disposed of.

– If you are unable to drop off or pick up your artwork on the given dates and times, please contact the Franklin Arts Center Resident Artists Gallery, so other arrangements can be made.

Money, Power, __________. How would you finish this statement? For this exhibition, we are seeking artwork that responds to the title and fills in the missing blank. Rather simple in a way, but in reality it can be quite difficult to choose just one thing that will fit into the given statement perfectly. We look forward to seeing what you come up with and how different artists interpret this by the last word that is chosen.
