Bodies and Spaces: Two Collective Exhibitions at Agora Gallery – NYC

Bodies and Spaces: Two Collective Exhibitions at Agora Gallery

This June, Agora Gallery will host two collective exhibitions that take on the challenge of redefining figures and spaces through a variety of artistic techniques. The artists featured in the exhibition In Reverie of Form tackle subjects of flora, fauna, and the human body, to examine various phenomena with their representations. Culture, psychology, and natural beauty are all considered by this talented array of artists, and are given a comprehensive re-examination through sheer technical mastery. Sharing the gallery, the artists in Spatial Articulation take their color, patterns, and geometry to completely transform their notion of space. With a variety of techniques, each artist allows individual elements of their works to latch onto the viewer’s preconceptions to redefine the canvases and even the rooms they occupy. In this regard, the viewer travels from works as if traveling in time, through space, and between nations.

The exhibitions open on June 12th and will run until July 2nd, 2015. The opening reception will take place Thursday, June 18th, from 6-8 PM. The exhibitions and opening reception are open to the public.

A Must-See Examination of Humanity: Collective Exhibitions at Agora Gallery – NYC

The dynamism of the world around us comes to the forefront at Agora Gallery this March in two collective exhibitions. The show The Essence of Abstraction examines the nature of human understanding, stripping away the representational to get at the core emotions and concepts of a subject. This group of international artists comes together to create a show of personal interpretations of abstraction. The exhibit Mélange of Milieu takes the opposite approach. Focused on the world around them, this group of artists has devoted themselves to the details of the everyday, representing them from the realistic to the surreal. These intricate and interesting works are sure to make the viewer reexamine the outside world. Together, the shows play off each other: the representational versus the abstract, the internal versus external. This pair of shows is a must-see examination of humanity.
The exhibitions open on March 6th and run until March 26th, 2015. The opening reception, which will take place on Thursday, March 12th from 6-8 PM, will be open to the public.

Beauty of Color, Line and Form at Agora this October – NYC

As summer’s heat subsides and the warm smells of pumpkin and spice break through the cool, crisp air, Agora Gallery opens its doors to new exhibitions of exceptional note. This October, you’ll find a refreshing and diverse selection of work by talented artists from all over the globe. In Beyond Borders: an Exhibition of Fine Art From Canada, contemporary Canadian artists demonstrate their skill as focused through the natural majesties of their country and its cultural influence. Divergent Realities brings forth the work of artists whose close observation of the world acts as a catalyst for the impulses of their own interpretation. In Modalities of Expression the audience is introduced to the richly varied ways in which artists choose to give form to their inner visions and ideas, and the beguiling charm that these forms possess. George Tsatsos: EU-TOPIAS presents the work of a lifelong artist who only recently began to share his creations with others. An explosion of color, geometry, and detail, his paintings allude to greats like Escher and Haring just as much as they forge their own chapter in art history.

The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen will host the first annual MAKERSfest on the 300 block of N. Queen St. on Sunday, June 8. The event features more than 50 craftsmen, live music, food trucks, and hands-on activities for all ages that focus on the artistry and ingenuity of making. All the craft on display is the inspired work of the craftsmen in the booth, ranging from ceramics to jewelry, handmade clothing, weaving, artisan furniture, functional objects, and more.

Special activities throughout the day include:

May Art at Agora Gallery – NYC

The walls are really bursting with life with a total of four exhibitions at Agora Gallery. Max Werner’s solo exhibition demonstrates the appeal of spontaneity and allowing impulse to guide talent and experience, as well as the value of observation in creating art. In Out From Down Under & Beyond: Fine Art From Australia and New Zealand artists show works which have been influenced by the wonderful scenery and culture of their homelands, with breathtaking results. Contemporary Perspectives highlights the exciting and innovative nature of art today, with each artist bringing their unique point of view and feel for the zeitgeist to their work. The art of Portal of Enigma takes up the challenge posed to every artist by the enormous diversity and complexity of life and meets it head on, facing both mystery and confusion squarely and bringing from it enlightenment and energy.
