Deadline: June 25, 2016 – SKETCHORAMA / Sketchbook Exhibition – Minnesota

The New Bohemian Gallery

Sketchbooks have been around for years and are used by everyone, whether for sketching and creating or simply for taking notes, making lists, and keeping information organized. They are a small glimpse into a whole other world of ideas, randomness, complete and unfinished process, and always a beginning to something new. Many times these special books that become an essential part of a person’s life are never seen by anyone other than their owner. In this exhibition we hope to change that by allowing artists to participate and submit a sketchbook for the community to open and explore for themselves. Those that participate will be given a sketchbook to do what ever they would like with, with exception of course. You will have a little over three months to complete your book and send it back to our gallery to be displayed in the exhibition. In addition to having the books on display, at least one image/page from each sketchbook will be selected by the gallery directors to be scanned and printed in a print/poster format. This will then be hung on the walls alongside the sketchbooks in the gallery. There is no specific theme for the sketchbooks in this exhibition, so take your time and come up with some great ideas, and then really get into – draw, write, collage, cut, print, and photograph your way to filling up the pages! We are very excited to bring this fun and interesting exhibition to you later this year, but need your support and participation now to make everything come together. We hope you will join us!

Deadline: May 2, 2016 – Call For Art | Make Art Great Again

The Resident Artists Gallery at The Franklin Arts Center in Brainerd MN is now accepting submissions for “Make Art Great Again: On Borders, Walls, and Duality”, a new collective exhibition. Our gallery committee has been busy absorbing the divisive language flooding the present political atmosphere, and tracing its threads back into history. Refugee crises and border walls emit historical echoes of apartheid and the Cold War, the cultural and physical divisions of Israel, South Africa, and the Koreas. Searchers in the West have spent the last few decades tearing down the wall between politics and spirituality by turning to the wisdom of Eastern philosophy to help explain the ancient polarities of have/have not, good/evil, and us/them, looking for a road map out of a seemingly eternal struggle that feels both futile and inevitable. We look forward to seeing your submissions exploring these subjects, and yes, we will entertain your Trump portraits.

The deadline for art received is Monday, May 2nd.

The opening reception for this show is May 6th from 5-8 and will run from May 7th through June 25th.

A Journey of Epic Proportions: “From Here to There” – NYC

Seventeen artists collaborate in the exhibition From Here to There to bring a New York audience on a magnificent journey of self-discovery, expression, and realization. Buzzing in energy, color, form, and texture, the works on display hint at real worlds while obscuring just enough to direct the viewer’s experience and effectively control the conversation. Abstractions flourish across canvas, while figures bend and transform before the viewers’ eyes. Varying on the scale of fiction and reality, the artworks featured tell a unique story of humanity, nature, and society in inventive ways. Most of all, however, they tell a story of movement and change: making this an exhibition that truly takes you from one state of mind to somewhere completely new and exciting.

Agora Gallery opens its doors for public viewing of this exhibition on March  8th  with a reception on Thursday March 10th, from 6pm to 8pm. Admission is free.

The Physical and the Temporal: Two Shows at Agora Gallery of Form & Context – NYC

In two exhibitions at Agora Gallery, The Persistence of Form and The Manifestation of Milieu, we are forced to contemplate both our individuality and what ties us to the world around us. In The Persistence of Form, a talented collection of painters and sculptors combine efforts to explore physicality: whether in the form of humans, wildlife, or man-made structures. These artists draw from a variety of styles and backgrounds in order to present their subjects with great care and extraordinary energy. Neighboring in the gallery, the exhibition The Manifestation of Milieu explores what lies beneath and behind the subject. Environments, whether geographical, temporal, or conceptual, fill the walls in staggering explorations of color and energy. Together, the two exhibitions feed off of each other to present a fully formed story about what it means to exist physically within a world, and what it means for a world to exist without physicality.

The exhibitions open on December 1st and will run until December 22nd, 2015. The opening reception will take place Thursday, December 3rd, from 6-8 PM. The exhibition and opening reception are open to the public.

Exhibition Dates: December 1, 2015 – December 22, 2015

Deadline: Dec. 28, 2015 – All In Due Time – Call for Entries

As the end of the year approaches we tend to reflect on what has passed, what is happening and what has yet to come. Through the perspective of time, these reflections bring about mixed emotions concerning various aspects of our lives and/or the lives of others. There are various creative approaches to represent time, be it a series of images, a depiction of a significant moment or time represented in a metaphorical sense. In this call for submissions we are looking for your artistic characterization of time, in any of its tenses!

Calls are open to all local, domestic, national and international professional and amateur artists. All art mediums will be considered in this call for submissions, from photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. Sizes up to 12 feet are acceptable. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered for the live exhibition. Freestanding 3D artworks will be displayed online only. We are now accepting video and poetry entries for online shows.

Accepted entries for this online exhibition will be judged again in the coming months for a collective live exhibition at our Los Angeles gallery. The artists will be asked if they wish to submit their artwork for the collective exhibition, which is not a requirement to being a part of the online exhibition.

DEADLINE FOR THIS CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: December 28, 2015

Cost: $35 for 3 entries, $5 for additional entries.
