Solitary Spaces and Illumination – Exhibitions – NYC

This spring Agora Gallery is pleased to present two exhibitions highlighting new and groundbreaking voices in the fields of painting and photography. Solitary Spaces celebrates the individual dreamer forging ahead, with a collection of widely dissimilar pieces that represent each artist’s imaginary viewpoint. There are surreal portraits, impossible landscapes, and entirely abstract compositions. The eye picks out what is real and what is not – and must come to terms with the fact that it is harder to distinguish more often than not. Illumination: An Exhibition of Fine Art Photography features the latest in digital photography, with sweeping and unfamiliar landscapes, probing psychological portraits, and still lifes that border on postmodern non-representation. The exhibition will explore how artists borrow from the language of fine art and from the newest in technological capabilities to inform their photography in today’s art world, where more is possible than ever before.

Both exhibitions open on April 26th, 2016 and run through May 17th, 2016. The opening reception for both will be held Thursday, April 28th from 6-8 pm. Entrance is free.

Exhibition Dates: April 26, 2016 – May 17, 2016

April Art at Agora Gallery

The warmer weather is matched by the color and creative energy to be found at Agora Gallery, with our stunning spring series of exhibitions.

In Elemental: Charles Conrardy / a Solo Exhibition, viewers will be able to appreciate the harmony and sense of coherent charm that can come out of the use of very diverse – and even unusual – media, textures and styles. Unconventional but instantly relatable, the work of Charles Conrardy has both intellectual and emotional power.

Illumination: An Exhibition of Fine Art Photography presents the gorgeous and remarkable images created by talented fine art photographers who unite excellence of technique with an artist’s eye for beauty and a passion for expression.

In addition, the exhibition New York City 2014: Synchronicity will be taking place upstairs at Agora’s third floor gallery. The striking works in this exhibit give regular gallery-goers the chance to revisit the work of artists who have shown at Agora in the past and take note of the ways in which their art has developed, while newcomers on the scene can take the opportunity to enjoy a collection of artworks that explore diverse media, styles and aspects of our universe.
