Three Exciting Exhibitions at Agora Gallery – NYC

This April, Agora Gallery welcomes three exhibitions that explore the current state of the world by investigating the different voices coming from every corner of the globe and hearing what they have to say. In East Meets West, we take a look at the work that is coming from Asian nations. Though the works vary greatly in influence and aesthetic, they allow the viewer into a cultural immersion without ever leaving their backyard. In Forms and Formalities, we see the visions, observations, and inner dreams of artists from all walks of life. Agora Gallery also presents the solo exhibition of Nigerian artist Nonye Ikegwuoha, a world-traveled architect who has recently turned his vision towards the “dark, harrowing experiences of migrants.” His portraits uncover the death, disease, and displacement that these people have faced, using cubist techniques, earthen colors, and fascinating lines and forms.

The exhibitions open on April 1st, 2016 and runs until April 21st, 2016. The opening reception for all three will take place on the evening of Thursday, April 7, 2016. Entrance is free.

A Journey of Epic Proportions: “From Here to There” – NYC

Seventeen artists collaborate in the exhibition From Here to There to bring a New York audience on a magnificent journey of self-discovery, expression, and realization. Buzzing in energy, color, form, and texture, the works on display hint at real worlds while obscuring just enough to direct the viewer’s experience and effectively control the conversation. Abstractions flourish across canvas, while figures bend and transform before the viewers’ eyes. Varying on the scale of fiction and reality, the artworks featured tell a unique story of humanity, nature, and society in inventive ways. Most of all, however, they tell a story of movement and change: making this an exhibition that truly takes you from one state of mind to somewhere completely new and exciting.

Agora Gallery opens its doors for public viewing of this exhibition on March  8th  with a reception on Thursday March 10th, from 6pm to 8pm. Admission is free.

Fragmented Reality: An Exhibition in NYC

With gusto and energy, Agora Gallery’s exhibition Fragmented Reality boasts over one hundred artworks by twenty artists. Angela Di Bello and her team have curated a remarkable exhibition which stages an interrogation of the dynamic balance of feminine and masculine energies while eschewing both romanticism and politics. Instead it solicits contemplation of three focused concepts: the interpretation of humans and animals within a shared environment; portraiture and abstract landscapes; and opposing forces, such as happiness and sadness, pleasure and pain. Presiding over the stunning visual space, the participating artists have conjured an airy grace from an immense application of bright colors and mixed media which all come together effortlessly in this comprehensive exhibition of fine art.

Agora Gallery opens its doors for public viewing of this exhibition on February 12th with a reception on Thursday February 18th, from 6pm to 8pm. Admission is free.

Telling Many Stories: Plurality of Expression – NYC

In the exhibition Plurality of Expression, eight artists draw from realism, surrealism, and complete abstraction to present exciting worlds of color, emotion, and passion. We see photographs alongside paintings, each of which tell a compelling story, each with deep emotional impact. Whether featuring figures, still lifes, surreal patterns, or landscapes, the artists have captured a distinct message in their composition, one that tells the impact of human life, interactions, and natural elements. Not only are the works passionate and expressive, they are undoubtedly extraordinary feats in aesthetic and color.

The Physical and the Temporal: Two Shows at Agora Gallery of Form & Context – NYC

In two exhibitions at Agora Gallery, The Persistence of Form and The Manifestation of Milieu, we are forced to contemplate both our individuality and what ties us to the world around us. In The Persistence of Form, a talented collection of painters and sculptors combine efforts to explore physicality: whether in the form of humans, wildlife, or man-made structures. These artists draw from a variety of styles and backgrounds in order to present their subjects with great care and extraordinary energy. Neighboring in the gallery, the exhibition The Manifestation of Milieu explores what lies beneath and behind the subject. Environments, whether geographical, temporal, or conceptual, fill the walls in staggering explorations of color and energy. Together, the two exhibitions feed off of each other to present a fully formed story about what it means to exist physically within a world, and what it means for a world to exist without physicality.

The exhibitions open on December 1st and will run until December 22nd, 2015. The opening reception will take place Thursday, December 3rd, from 6-8 PM. The exhibition and opening reception are open to the public.
