Call For Submissions: Line Drawings for The Common

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: THE COMMON ISSUE NO. 04 FALL 2012
Line drawing celebrates a maximum of expression with a minimum of marks on the page. Artists like Matisse, Picasso, and Cocteau mastered the art of capturing gesture, emotion, places, and moments in time with an economy of lines.
For the Fall 2012 edition of The Common, we seek line drawings that, in keeping with the journal’s theme, reflect a particular time or place, real or imagined.
Selected material will be published in the print journal and may also appear online (thecommononline.org). In addition, there is a possibility of including selected work in a New York City gallery show in the spring of 2013. One artist
per print edition will be selected to receive a small honorarium.
The Common is a literary journal published in print semiannually from Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and updated weekly at thecommononline.org. The printed journal is for sale in retail stores and by subscription.
